Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Eyes Massive Opening as Advance Bookings Cross ₹32 Crore

The highly anticipated gangster action drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, starring Kannada superstar Yash, is poised for a spectacular cinematic arrival. As the film gears up for its worldwide release on August 26, early box office data indicates a resounding response from audiences, signaling a potential record-breaking run.

A Strong Start in Pre-Sales

According to industry reports, the film has already recorded ₹24.27 crore in pure advance bookings for its opening day. When accounting for blocked seats, that figure climbs to an impressive ₹32.52 crore, with over 6.4 lakh tickets already sold across India.

The momentum is largely fueled by the film’s Hindi and Kannada versions, which are neck-and-neck in popularity. The Hindi 2D version has secured ₹11.06 crore from 3.33 lakh tickets, while the Kannada version has brought in ₹10.99 crore from 2.64 lakh tickets. Additionally, the Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam versions have collectively moved over 42,000 tickets, showcasing the actor’s pan-Indian appeal.

Record-Breaking Trajectory

Toxic has already cemented its place in the record books by surpassing the opening-day advances of Jana Nayagan (₹22.26 crore). Currently, it holds the title for the second-highest opening-day bookings for an Indian film in 2026, trailing only Dhurandhar 2, which sits at ₹53 crore.

Geographically, Karnataka remains the film’s strongest domestic stronghold, contributing over ₹10.69 crore across more than 1,740 shows. In terms of sheer distribution, Gujarat leads with 2,319 allocated shows, closely followed by Maharashtra with 2,189. International interest is also high, with pre-sales in the United States already exceeding $146,251.

Global Projections and Market Context

With a massive release strategy spanning more than 12,000 screens worldwide, trade analysts are optimistic that the film could potentially touch the ₹100 crore mark globally on its opening day.

Despite this, industry insiders note that the advance booking pace for this project remains behind that of Yash’s 2022 blockbuster, KGF: Chapter 2, which raked in over ₹80 crore in Day 1 advances. Analysts attribute this difference to the unique nature of the projects: while KGF 2 rode on the massive, pre-existing wave of sequel anticipation, Toxic—directed by acclaimed Malayali filmmaker Geetu Mohandas—is proving that a star-driven standalone narrative can still command enormous advance bookings in today’s competitive market.

As the release date nears, all eyes are on whether Toxic can sustain this momentum and establish a new benchmark for Indian cinema.
