UPPSC Assistant Professor prelims result 2026 released for eight subjects; check qualified candidates and next stage

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has officially announced the results of the preliminary examination for Assistant Professor positions across eight distinct subjects in government colleges. These highly anticipated results cover a diverse range of disciplines, including Commerce, Fine Arts, Hindi, Mathematics, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Zoology, and Computer Science. The preliminary examination, a crucial stage in the recruitment process, was administered on May 31st as part of the broader Government College Examination-2025.

According to Girijesh Kumar Tyagi, the Secretary of UPPSC, a substantial number of candidates participated in this competitive examination across all subjects. Those who have successfully cleared this initial hurdle are now eligible to progress to the main examination, marking a significant step towards securing these coveted academic positions.

Detailed subject-wise statistics released by the commission provide a comprehensive overview of the examination’s reach and the competitive landscape. For instance, Hindi saw the highest engagement, with 16,098 registered candidates and 10,801 appearing for the preliminary test, ultimately yielding 1,983 qualified candidates for the mains. Commerce also attracted significant interest, with 8,423 registrations, 4,154 appearances, and 945 candidates moving forward. Similarly, in Sanskrit, 2,297 out of 4,315 registered candidates took the exam, with 878 successfully qualifying.

The journey for these successful candidates now leads to the main examination, the final assessment before selection. It has been noted that in certain subjects, the number of candidates who met the minimum qualifying marks for the preliminary stage was lower than the total available positions, indicating the rigorous nature of the examination. The UPPSC is expected to release a separate notification soon, detailing the schedule for the main examination and outlining the online application process. Aspiring Assistant Professors are strongly advised to regularly check the Commission’s official website for these vital updates and further instructions.

In a related development concerning education and public service, the Department of Child Development and Nutrition has finalized the selection process for most of the vacant Anganwadi worker positions. Under its revised selection procedure, 121 out of 125 posts across 18 projects have been filled. A small number of four posts remain vacant due to the unavailability of eligible candidates, highlighting the challenges in finding suitable applicants for all positions.
