There was a jubilant atmosphere ahead of Cardiff City’s first game as a promoted side on Wednesday, with fans proudly displaying bright banners, flags and scarfs to the ground. Players and fans went wild with joy last week after a 3-1 victory for Cardiff over Reading and a draw between Exeter and Stockport, decided in the final moments of the game, sealed promotion back to the Championship for the bluebirds.
The only dampener on the moment at the time was that it couldn’t be enjoyed at Cardiff City Stadium. However, at Cardiff’s home game against Port Vale on Wednesday, fans and players were finally able to celebrate together at their home ground.
The weather couldn’t have been much better either and supporters were able to enjoy the warm spring sunshine before heading to their seats. See all the best pictures here
