Two Charged Following String of Commercial Burglaries in Newport City Centre

Two individuals have been formally charged by Gwent Police following separate investigations into commercial burglaries and theft offenses across Newport city centre.

The incidents, which took place in late August, have led to court appearances for both suspects as local authorities continue their crackdown on retail crime in the area.

Charges Filed Against 33-Year-Old Man

Rory Hiscox, 33, of Chepstow Road, Newport, has been charged in connection with an incident at a commercial property located on Usk Way. The burglary allegedly occurred on Saturday, August 29. In addition to the burglary charge—categorized as “burglary other than a dwelling”—Hiscox faces two counts of fraud by false representation.

Woman Charged in Separate Investigation

In an unrelated case, 33-year-old Nicole Clarke, of no fixed address, has also been charged by police. Her charges stem from a burglary at a commercial address on Millennium Walk, which reportedly took place on Tuesday, August 25.

Furthermore, Clarke has been charged with a separate incident involving theft from a shop located on Cambrian Road. That offense allegedly occurred on Sunday, August 23.

Court Appearance

Following the filing of these charges, both Hiscox and Clarke were remanded into police custody. The pair appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 2, to answer to the allegations.

Authorities have urged anyone with further information regarding these or other ongoing investigations to contact the police. For more updates on this and other regional incidents, follow the latest breaking news across the region.
