Walker rescued after breaking ankle on fell paths near Ullswater


The incident happened on fell paths around Aira Force on July 11, making the area inaccessible to ambulance crews.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team arrived at the scene, treated the casualty, and transported him on a stretcher and a wheeled stretcher.

A spokesperson said: “Once in the stretcher, it was a short uphill path to the nearby Land Rover, allowing onward transportation.”

“The casualty was located after an initial search through the numerous paths.”

The rescue lasted two and a half hours and involved 11 volunteers.
