Xbox Services Restored Following Major Six-Hour Outage

Microsoft has officially resolved a significant technical outage that disrupted Xbox services for thousands of players earlier today. The company confirmed that engineering teams have successfully mitigated the issue, fully restoring sign-in and account management capabilities across its entire ecosystem.

“Great news, everyone! Engineering has confirmed mitigation,” the official Xbox Support social media account announced in a post. “Signing in or creating an account should be back to normal now. We appreciate the heads-up — keep them coming if anything else pops up.”

The disruption, which lasted for approximately six hours, began early this morning and triggered a widespread major outage. During the downtime, users reported being unable to access their profiles, leading to widespread frustration as players were disconnected from their games, apps, and social features.

The impact was extensive, affecting users across a variety of hardware, including Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and even legacy Xbox 360 consoles. The issues were not limited to hardware consoles, however; the outage also crippled Xbox services on PC, mobile devices (Android and iOS), and Cloud gaming platforms.

At the height of the incident, Microsoft’s official status page noted that any features requiring an active account sign-in were unavailable, effectively locking players out of their digital libraries and online multiplayer sessions.

Microsoft first acknowledged the disturbance at 5:09 a.m. ET, initiating an investigation that lasted throughout the morning. While the company has confirmed that services are now operational, it has yet to disclose the specific root cause behind the technical failure.

With the systems now back online, the Xbox network appears to be functioning normally for all users. Players experiencing lingering connection issues are encouraged to restart their devices to refresh their network cache.
