Yash’s ‘Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-ups’ Cleared for Release with ‘A’ Certificate

With just days remaining until its highly anticipated theatrical debut, the action-packed cinematic spectacle Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-ups has officially received its clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Geetu Mohandas directorial, featuring superstar Yash in the lead, has been granted an ‘Adults Only’ (A) certificate ahead of its August 26 release.

CBFC Mandates Minor Adjustments

The CBFC has given the green light for the film’s release without requiring any major scene deletions. However, the board has requested minor word modifications to the Kannada dialogue and their corresponding English subtitles. Specifically, the terms “Tevidiya Paiya” and “Tevidiya Pulla” are to be muted or replaced to adhere to certification standards.

In addition to these dialogue changes, the CBFC has mandated the inclusion of statutory warnings regarding smoking and drug use. These warnings must be displayed prominently at the beginning of the film and immediately following the interval, ensuring viewers are adequately cautioned regarding the mature content depicted.

A Three-Hour Epic

True to its ambitious scope, the film boasts a substantial runtime of 194 minutes and 12 seconds, totaling 3 hours, 14 minutes, and 12 seconds. Despite its length, the production team has successfully navigated the certification process with only the aforementioned adjustments, preserving the director’s vision intact.

International Reception and Classification

The film is already generating noise globally. The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has also granted the film an ‘A’ rating, citing explicit scenes of violence and sexual content. Notably, the BBFC awarded the movie a 5/5 rating for the intensity of its violence and injury detail, signaling a gritty, unfiltered cinematic experience.

A Tumultuous Road to Release

The journey to the big screen has been marked by several scheduling shifts. Initially slated for a March 19 release alongside Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the date was subsequently pushed to June 4 before finally settling on August 26.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film features a powerhouse ensemble cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria. Lead actor Yash and co-star Kiara Advani have been actively building momentum on social media. Advani recently gave fans a glimpse behind the scenes, describing the production as a "Peculiar Alchemy," while Yash has been busy urging fans to secure their tickets, setting the stage for what is expected to be a massive box-office opening.
