The highly anticipated Dulquer Salmaan-starrer, “I’m Game,” has officially shifted its release date, with producers announcing that the film will now hit screens worldwide on September 3, 2026, instead of the previously scheduled August 20. This postponement aims to facilitate a broader theatrical release strategy for the Malayalam action thriller.
Nahas Hidhayath directs the film, which features Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role alongside Kayadu Lohar, Antony Varghese, and Mysskin. The production team confirmed the delay, explaining that the extra time is crucial for preparing the movie for an expanded global rollout. An official statement from the makers read, “The game gets bigger. The release gets wider. We understand the anticipation and we apologize for the delay, but #IMGAME will now release worldwide on 3rd September, moving from its earlier release date of 20th August.”
A significant aspect of this revised plan is the simultaneous release of “I’m Game” in five languages: Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. This multi-language approach is designed to extend the film’s reach across India and beyond, allowing a diverse audience to experience it on the big screen. The makers elaborated on this decision, stating, “The new release date comes with a larger vision for the film as #IMGAME gears up for a wider theatrical release across markets. The film will now simultaneously release in multiple languages—Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada—taking the experience to audiences across the country and beyond.” Consequently, the film will no longer be part of the competitive Onam release window in August.
The production team emphasized that the postponement is a strategic move to provide “I’m Game” with the extensive platform it deserves, maximizing its theatrical impact. They expressed confidence that the film warrants a wide release, stating, “This decision has been made to give #IMGAME the scale, reach, and theatre platform it truly deserves, allowing audiences across different markets to experience it on the big screen. The wait gets a little longer, but the game gets bigger!”
This announcement follows the successful launch of “Mazhavillaye,” the first single from the movie. Composed by Jakes Bejoy, the track features vocals by Armaan Malik and has already generated significant buzz. Dulquer Salmaan himself expressed his admiration for Malik’s contribution, sharing his appreciation on X (formerly Twitter). “It’s such a privilege to have you bring so much soul and your own spirit to this track brother. Been your fan forever so this is truly special!” Salmaan wrote, concluding his message with “Lots of love always” and heart emojis.
