Islamabad Rejects India’s "Baseless Assertions," Calls Out "Malicious Campaign"

ISLAMABAD – August 18, 2026 – The Foreign Office (FO) of Pakistan today vehemently rejected what it termed the "baseless assertions" made by India’s Home Minister, linking recent arrests in India with Pakistan. In a strongly worded statement, the FO characterized these allegations as yet another manifestation of New Delhi’s ongoing "malicious campaign" against Pakistan.

While the FO’s official statement did not explicitly name Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, its timing and content directly responded to his recent claims on X (formerly Twitter). Shah had alleged that the Indian government had successfully "destroyed" a terrorist group, apprehending numerous operatives, and further claimed that this group received backing from Pakistan.

The Pakistani Foreign Office unequivocally stated, "Pakistan strongly rejects the allegations made by India’s home minister, attempting to link Pakistan with certain arrests in India." The FO went on to assert that "Such propaganda is yet another demonstration of India’s malicious campaign against Pakistan to divert attention from its domestic security challenges and to blame Pakistan for narrow domestic political gains."

The statement painted a stark picture of India’s internal affairs, describing it as a "repressive state, brutally oppressing its minorities and silencing dissent." Furthermore, the FO accused India of actively engaging in external destabilization, stating, "Externally, India is exporting terror and abetting terrorists."

The Foreign Office emphasized that "Unfounded Indian insinuations cannot divert international attention away from India’s state-sponsored terrorism, targeted assassinations, and subversion in foreign territories." To bolster its claims, Pakistan reiterated its repeated sharing of evidence regarding India’s involvement in terrorism and destabilizing activities within its borders. As a prime example, the FO cited the case of "the convicted and serving Indian naval commander, Kulbhushan Jadhav," presenting it as "undeniable proof of India’s direct involvement in subversion and terrorism in Pakistan."

Concluding its powerful rebuttal, the Foreign Office urged the international community to dismiss these "baseless" Indian allegations and to hold India accountable for what it described as "state-sponsored terrorism in the region."

This latest exchange highlights the persistent and deeply entrenched tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, with each accusing the other of sponsoring terrorism and engaging in destabilizing activities. The international community continues to watch closely as these allegations and counter-allegations unfold, with calls for greater transparency and accountability from both sides.
