Suriya’s ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ Continues Box Office Domination, Rakes in Over ₹66 Crore in Five Days
Chennai, India – Following the tremendous success of his previous film ‘Karuppu,’ Tamil superstar Suriya’s latest cinematic offering, ‘Vishwanath and Sons,’ is replicating a similar triumph at the box office. Released on Friday, the film has enjoyed a robust opening weekend and is demonstrating impressive staying power as it navigates the mid-week days, accruing over ₹66 crore in net collections within just five days of its release.
According to live tracking numbers from trade analyst Sacnilk, ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ amassed a commendable ₹96 lakh on its fifth day, Tuesday. The film is currently screening across 2,164 screens nationwide, maintaining a healthy occupancy rate of 19%.
The film’s strong performance is largely attributed to its stellar opening weekend. On its debut day, Friday, ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ raked in a substantial ₹15.35 crore. This momentum continued through Saturday and Sunday, with collections of ₹22.25 crore and ₹20.55 crore, respectively. Even on its fourth day, Monday, the film held strong, collecting over ₹7.80 crore from 4,962 shows.
These consistent figures have propelled the film’s total India net collection to an impressive ₹66.91 crore. Including gross figures, the movie has already crossed the ₹77.40 crore mark.
The film’s success is further highlighted by its performance across different linguistic versions. The Tamil version contributed a significant ₹54 lakh on Tuesday, recording a 17% occupancy across 1,290 shows. The Telugu version also performed strongly, earning ₹42 lakh from 874 shows, with an even higher occupancy rate of 22%. It is important to note that these are live figures, and the final collection for Tuesday is expected to be even higher once all official data is compiled.
Directed by Venky Atluri, ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ features Suriya in the lead role as Sanjay Vishwanath, a highly decorated sharpshooter with multiple international accolades. His disciplined and tranquil life takes an unexpected turn when a much younger woman, portrayed by Mamitha Baiju, openly expresses her affection for him.
The film boasts a talented ensemble cast alongside Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, including veteran actors Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon, as well as Nassar, Sudha, Kalyani Natarajan, Raghu Babu, Sunil Reddy, Rajiv Menon, Bhavani Sri, Viva Harsha, Kaali Venkat, George Maryan, Hyper Aadhi, Srija Ravi, and Sarvadaman Banerjee.
