Navya Naveli Nanda Champions Women’s Empowerment and AI Literacy, Inspired by Family Legacy

New Delhi, India – Entrepreneur Navya Naveli Nanda, granddaughter of Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, has consistently highlighted the profound influence of the powerful women in her family on her professional journey and her fervent advocacy for women’s empowerment. In a recent interview with ANI, Nanda delved into how her mother Shweta Bachchan, maternal grandmother Jaya Bachchan, and particularly her paternal grandmother, Ritu Nanda, shaped her perspective on work and entrepreneurship.

Nanda, who spent her formative years in Delhi, revealed that Ritu Nanda, the eldest daughter of legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor and a successful entrepreneur herself, was a significant catalyst in her decision to pursue entrepreneurship. "I have seen my Dadi working many times, and I have got a lot of motivation from her in doing entrepreneurship because she was also an entrepreneur," Navya stated. Growing up witnessing her grandmother build a career provided a powerful early example of a woman’s ability to forge her own path. She underscored the vital role of women, stating, "The role of women is very important. The role of a mother is very important."

Beyond Ritu Nanda, Navya credits the collective support of the women in her family for her drive. "My mother, my aunt, my grandmother, all the women in my family, they have motivated me a lot and supported me a lot. I think because of that, I also want to make them proud," she shared, emphasizing the strong familial foundation that underpins her endeavors.

Navya’s commitment to women’s empowerment extends far beyond her personal experiences. She is a vocal proponent of preparing young women for the rapidly evolving professional landscape, particularly as artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated into daily life and workplaces. "We want our daughters to be ready for AI. We want them to learn the benefits of using AI on their own, on their jobs, in their daily lives through our programme so that they can take our country forward and build their careers," she explained.

Having dedicated the past five years to working closely with women, Navya firmly believes that avenues for employment and entrepreneurship have expanded significantly. She specifically cited the internet and digital platforms as crucial tools that empower women to find employment, acquire new skills, and create professional opportunities for themselves.

Furthermore, Navya highlighted the inherent skills women possess that are invaluable in professional environments. From adeptly managing multiple responsibilities and supporting their families to creatively solving everyday challenges, she believes these abilities are directly transferable and highly effective in the workplace. "They can do a thousand things. I feel that these skills are in women from birth," she asserted.

Nanda concluded with a powerful message on equality, emphasizing collaboration: "Women will move forward with men. Women are doing very well, men are also doing very well, and when it comes to equality, both men and women can achieve it together."

These insightful comments were made during the launch of the GenAI Ready Naari (GenAI Training) Programme, an initiative by Navya and Samyak Chakrabarty’s ‘Nimaya Foundation’. This program aims to equip women with the necessary skills to thrive in an increasingly AI-driven professional world, underscoring Navya’s dedication to creating a future where women are not just participants, but leaders, in technological advancement and economic growth. Her advocacy for women’s empowerment, rooted in a rich family legacy and forward-looking vision, continues to inspire and drive meaningful change.
