Sunita Ahuja Withdraws Divorce Case Against Govinda, Manager Confirms End to Marital Speculation
Mumbai, India – After months of intense media speculation and public drama, Sunita Ahuja, wife of veteran Bollywood actor Govinda, has officially withdrawn the divorce case filed against him. This development, confirmed by Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha, brings an end to a period of uncertainty surrounding the couple’s long-standing marriage. The news was first reported by The Times of India, and Govinda’s manager has expressed a mixture of relief and disappointment regarding how the marital issues unfolded in the public eye.
Rumours of a rift in the Ahuja household began circulating last year, intensifying with reports of a potential divorce. Sunita Ahuja was previously spotted at the Bandra family court in Mumbai, fueling further speculation, though the reason for her visit remained undisclosed at the time. Over the past several months, Sunita had made a series of public allegations and controversial remarks concerning Govinda, to which the actor had intermittently responded.
Manager Expresses Disappointment Over Public Spectacle
Shashi Sinha, Govinda’s manager, did not mince words when discussing the public nature of the couple’s marital troubles. Speaking to NDTV, Sinha lamented, "But once it reaches the courts, the whole world knows. Did the world need to know? There was no need. Family matters should stay within the family. Many things get resolved after sitting and talking things through. If the case was to be withdrawn today, why was it filed in the first place? This pains me. Why did we become a spectacle?"
Sinha further elaborated on the current situation, stating, "Govinda currently has no reaction. All of this just happened minutes ago. There is no reaction at all. May God grant everyone good sense, and may everyone act wisely. That is all that matters. I speak well for everyone – for Govinda, for Sunita, for the children, for all."
In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Sinha also conveyed a sense of relief, saying, "Sab log darr kyu rahe hai. Sunita ji ne apna case wapas liya hai. Yeh toh khush hone ki baat hai. Woh itne gusse mein nazar aayi toh sabko laga hoga kuch problem hui, par ab sab theek hai dono mein." (Why is everyone scared? Sunita ji has taken her case back. This is a matter of happiness. She appeared so angry, so everyone might have thought there was some problem, but now everything is fine between them.)
"Sugar Daddy" Remark and Govinda’s Response
Among the more contentious public comments made by Sunita Ahuja was her recent accusation calling Govinda a "sugar daddy." This remark, reportedly made in reference to his closeness with his ‘Roopa’ co-star Komal Rani Swarnkar, was a follow-up to earlier claims of his alleged affair with the actress.
Govinda himself addressed these allegations, expressing his frustration with the interference in his professional life. He stated, "Jo kaam baahar mujhe milta hai, woh main karta nahin hoon, aur jo main kar raha hoon, usmein aap hastakshep kar rahi hain. Aur jab aap apna kaam kar rahi thi, chahe woh khaane ka show tha, chahe woh lockdown tha, Tina se kehkar dono shows mein aapne aise-vaise, yen-ken-prakaren mujhe bulvaya aur mujhse sevaayein lein. Khair, woh toh aapka haq hai." (I do not take up every opportunity that comes my way, and yet you are interfering in the work I am currently doing. When you were working, whether it was your food show or during the lockdown, you used your contacts to invite me to both programmes and sought my support. Of course, that was your right.)
He further added, "Aur jis waqt maine film shuru ki hai, aap ek bhi kasar nahin chhod rahi hain ki main logon ke dil se utar jaaun, badnaam ho jaaun ya kuch aisa ho jaaye ki mera business na ho." (Now that I have started a film, you are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that I lose public support, get defamed, or suffer setbacks in my work.)
A Long and Private Marriage
Govinda and Sunita Ahuja tied the knot in March 1987. Their marriage was kept a secret for over a year, only becoming public after the birth of their daughter, Tina, in 1988. Their son, Yashvardhan, was born in 1997. The couple’s long journey together has seen its share of ups and downs, but the withdrawal of the divorce case suggests a renewed effort to mend their relationship and keep their family matters private.
