"My Annaya Was Always My Hero": Pawan Kalyan Pens Emotional Birthday Tribute to Megastar Chiranjeevi
Hyderabad: As Tollywood icon and political titan Chiranjeevi celebrates his 71st birthday, his brother and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan, has shared a heartfelt and nostalgic tribute, offering a rare glimpse into the formative years of the legendary actor.
Taking to social media, Pawan Kalyan reflected on his brother’s journey—from a student in Narsapur to the undisputed "Megastar" of Indian cinema. In a deeply personal post, he shared a series of images, including a nostalgic childhood photograph and a moving video from his 2024 swearing-in ceremony, where he is seen touching Chiranjeevi’s feet to seek his blessings.
A Hero Before Stardom
Pawan Kalyan’s tribute centered on the deep bond the two shared long before fame entered their lives. He recalled the excitement of Chiranjeevi returning home during summer holidays, describing him as a hero even in his youth.
"When he used to ride my father’s Bullet (350 cc) with his curly long hair, fit NCC Cadet body with bell bottoms and glasses—oh! it was an absolutely fanboy and hero-worshipping moment," he wrote. "My Annaya was always a Hero for me even before he became a Hero."
Witnessing the "Struggle Behind the Shine"
Beyond the glitz of the screen, Pawan Kalyan opened up about the grueling reality of his brother’s early career in Chennai. He painted a vivid picture of the sheer physical toll Chiranjeevi paid to carve out his place in the industry.
"I had seen his struggle, hard work, and injuries in shoots," he recounted. "Every day, he used to reach home in the middle of the night after 18-hour shifts of laborious work, in his sweat-drenched costumes and shoes in Chennai’s heat and humidity, with hardly any strength to stand."
Pawan Kalyan highlighted that despite this professional exhaustion, Chiranjeevi remained a pillar of support for him, even during his own days of academic struggles and uncertainty. He noted that his brother’s generosity extended well beyond the family, touching the lives of producers, friends, and the broader film industry.
An Unstoppable Spirit
Reflecting on Chiranjeevi’s illustrious career—which spans iconic performances in both Telugu and Hindi cinema, numerous National Awards, and the prestigious Padma Vibhushan—Pawan Kalyan expressed awe at his brother’s relentless work ethic.
He noted that even following a major spinal surgery, the veteran actor showed remarkable resilience, returning to his fitness regimen and professional commitments almost immediately. "Like a city that never sleeps, he’s a man who never rests," Pawan Kalyan added. "He’s born with an unstoppable motor within. That’s why he’s become our beloved ‘Megastar’ and my only Hero."
As fans across the globe shower the actor with love, Pawan Kalyan’s tribute reminds the public that beneath the titles and accolades, the bond between the two remains rooted in profound mutual respect and brotherhood.
On the professional front, the Megastar is currently preparing for his next major project, the action thriller Kaaka, directed by Bobby Kolli.
