Teenager dies in tragic motorbike crash on Aberdeenshire road

Police have launched an urgent investigation following a fatal collision in Aberdeenshire that claimed the life of a 17-year-old motorcyclist on Monday evening.

Emergency services were scrambled to the B9031, the main road connecting Macduff and Fraserburgh, at approximately 5:30 p.m. on August 24. Despite the swift arrival of paramedics, the teenager—who was riding a black Honda CB500 motorcycle—was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision occurred on a stretch of the road west of the junction leading to the coastal village of Pennan.

Following the tragic incident, local authorities closed the B9031 for approximately six hours while specialist collision investigators gathered evidence and cleared the wreckage. The road has since been reopened to the public.

While the victim’s identity has not yet been publicly disclosed, authorities are focusing on piecing together the moments leading up to the crash. Sergeant Peter Henderson of the North East Road Policing Unit expressed his condolences, stating: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young male who died in this incident.”

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we would urge anyone who believes they may have witnessed anything of note to get in touch,” Sgt. Henderson added. “We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area.”
