SSC Revises Stenographer Grade C, D Exam 2026 Schedule: Key Updates on Admit Cards and Scribe Rules

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially announced a revision to the examination schedule for the SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Tier-I examination 2026. Candidates are advised to take note of the updated timeline to ensure they remain prepared for the upcoming assessment.

Revised Examination Dates

According to the latest notification released by the Commission, the examination will now be conducted from September 9 to September 12, 2026. This is a compression of the original window, which was previously scheduled to span from September 9 to September 15. Candidates are urged to check the exam city slip, now available on the official website at ssc.gov.in, to finalize their travel and preparation plans accordingly.

Admit Card Access

The commission has clarified that the admission certificates (admit cards) will be made available for download shortly before the examination. Candidates can expect these documents to be released on the official portal approximately two to three days prior to their specific exam date. Aspirants should regularly monitor the SSC website and use their login credentials to download their admit cards as soon as they are uploaded.

Updated Guidelines for Scribe Facilities

The SSC has introduced significant changes to the process for candidates utilizing the “Own Scribe” facility for the Tier-I examination.

  • Fresh Registration Required: Any scribe registrations completed prior to November 5, 2025, have been discarded. Candidates must perform a fresh registration for their scribe on the SSC website.
  • Aadhaar Authentication: The scribe registration process is now strictly linked to Aadhaar authentication. Both the candidate and the scribe must complete the new registration process to remain eligible.
  • Scribe Mapping: Candidates opting for an own scribe must map the scribe’s One-Time Registration (OTR) number within the designated deadline. For the Stenographer Grade C and D examination, the mapping must be completed no later than September 7, 2026.

The commission emphasized that the scribe entry pass—a mandatory document for exam day—will only be generated if the OTR mapping is successfully completed within the stipulated timeframe. Failure to adhere to these new guidelines may result in candidates being unable to utilize the scribe facility.

Candidates are strongly encouraged to review the official SSC portal for any further notices and to ensure all administrative requirements are met well in advance of the examination dates.
