The transition process saw interest from several cricketing nations, with both Bangladesh and South Africa putting forward bids to stage the prestigious six-team competition. Ultimately, the ICC board ratified India as the new host, with matches scheduled to be held across Mumbai and Vadodara.

Unlike the men’s Champions Trophy, which maintains its traditional 50-over format, the women’s event will be played as a T20 tournament.
