CD Projekt Red Reports Strong H1 2026 Growth, Driven by Licensing and Franchise Expansion

CD Projekt Red, the powerhouse developer behind some of the industry’s most iconic RPGs, has announced a robust performance for the first half of 2026. The company’s latest financial report reveals significant growth in both revenue and profit, underscoring the enduring appeal of its core franchises and a strategic pivot toward broader multimedia licensing.

Financial Performance Highlights

For the first half of 2026, the company generated $116.5 million (435 million PLN) in revenue, marking a 23% year-over-year increase. This financial momentum is matched by a strong bottom line, with net profit surging 37% to $66.7 million (249 million PLN). Notably, the firm achieved a impressive net profitability margin of 57.2%, reflecting a highly efficient operational strategy.

Chief Financial Officer Piotr Nielubowicz highlighted that while core game sales remain the engine of the business, licensing—spanning merchandise, collaborations, and media—is “progressively becoming more important” to the company’s bottom line.

A New Chapter for ‘The Witcher’

The company’s roadmap for its flagship series remains as ambitious as ever. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt continues to defy its age, having now surpassed 65 million copies sold, with the entire Witcher series exceeding 90 million units globally.

To maintain this momentum, CD Projekt Red confirmed a three-year release plan for the franchise, headlined by the upcoming launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered. Arriving on September 29, the remaster will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and will see a native release on the Switch 2. Existing owners of the base game will receive the update for free, complete with both major expansions. Furthermore, in a significant distribution expansion, the company has partnered with Blizzard Entertainment to bring the remaster and the new Songs of the Past expansion to the Battle.net platform.

‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Continues to Evolve

The Cyberpunk franchise remains a cornerstone of the studio’s success. Cyberpunk 2077 has officially crossed the 40 million units sold milestone, while the Phantom Liberty expansion has maintained consistent traction with 15 million units sold in less than three years.

Beyond gaming, Cyberpunk has aggressively expanded its cultural footprint. This year has seen Night City integrated into Wuthering Waves and Apex Legends, while a standalone Cyberpunk trading card game shattered records by becoming the most-funded project in the history of Kickstarter. Fans can also look forward to October 20, when the highly anticipated Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2—co-produced once again with Studio Trigger—premieres on Netflix.

Corporate Evolution

These strong results arrive during a period of transition for the studio. Following a steady Q1 that saw a 6% increase in revenue, the company underwent a major branding evolution in June, officially consolidating its identity by rebranding to CD Projekt Red.

As the developer balances long-term development cycles with its growing portfolio of licensed media and re-releases, these latest figures suggest that the studio’s strategy of leveraging its intellectual property across multiple channels is paying significant dividends.
