ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Dust off your sneakers and prepare for a vibrant morning, as St. Johns County Parks and Recreation has officially opened registration for the highly anticipated 2026 Family Color Run 5K. The event is scheduled to return to the St. Johns County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Nov. 14, promising a day of fitness, community spirit, and a whirlwind of rainbow-colored fun.
The race is slated to kick off at 9 a.m. at the fairgrounds, located at 5840 State Road 207 E. For those planning to attend, on-site check-in and last-minute registration will open promptly at 8 a.m. The window for registration will close officially at 8:45 a.m. on the morning of the race, though residents are encouraged to sign up early to avoid the rush.
Participation in the 5K is priced at $25 per person, providing an affordable option for families looking to stay active. In a nod to inclusivity, children aged 2 and younger are invited to join the fun free of charge. Organizers emphasize that the course is designed to be accessible for everyone, regardless of their athletic prowess. Participants are welcome to run, walk, skip, or even dance their way through the mostly off-road, grassy route that winds around the expansive fairgrounds property.
The registration fee is packed with value, including an official event T-shirt, a commemorative medal to mark the achievement, professional race timing, and access to multiple “color splash” stations along the course, where runners will be showered in vibrant powders. Those interested in securing their preferred T-shirt size should take note: organizers have warned that shirts are not guaranteed for any registrations submitted after Nov. 1.
For those looking to get the most out of the experience, event planners recommend wearing comfortable athletic apparel and reliable running shoes. To truly appreciate the visual spectacle, wearing a white shirt is highly encouraged, as it allows the colors to pop against the fabric. Additionally, while the color powder is safe, organizers suggest that parents consider providing sunglasses or goggles for younger children to keep the fun comfortable from start to finish.
Beyond the runners themselves, the county is looking for community support to make the day a success. Parks and Recreation officials are currently seeking volunteers to help manage the event, as well as corporate sponsors looking to get involved.
Anyone with specific questions regarding the race logistics can contact St. Johns County Parks and Recreation at 904-209-0333 or via email at sjcparksandrec@sjcfl.us. Potential sponsors should reach out to the St. Johns County Parks Foundation at info@sjcpf.org.
