Despite this decline, the film had already secured a remarkable milestone before the drop. By the end of its eighteenth day in theatres, the movie’s total domestic net collection had climbed past Rs 1,013 crore. This achievement was largely driven by an impressive surge on day eighteen, when it registered nearly Rs 28.75 crore, reflecting a growth of over 12 percent compared to the previous day’s Rs 25.65 crore. With this feat, the film entered an elite club, becoming only the second Indian production after Pushpa 2: The Rule to cross the Rs 1,000 crore mark purely through Indian net earnings. It also carved history as the first Hindi-language film to accomplish this benchmark as per a TOI report.
On the global front, the film’s earnings have been equally extraordinary. Its worldwide gross has soared beyond Rs 1,600 crore, with India contributing more than Rs 1,213 crore and international markets adding approximately Rs 392 crore. These figures have propelled Dhurandhar 2 into the list of the top three highest-grossing Indian films worldwide.
Titled Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, the story revolves around Jaskirat Singh Rangi, a man driven by deep personal loss who is drawn into the world of intelligence operations through India’s R&AW. Following intense training and transformation, he adopts the identity of Hamza Ali Mazari, a highly dangerous undercover agent operating from within Karachi. The narrative blends fiction with references to real incidents such as the 2016 demonetization and administrative changes like the renaming of Pathankot railway station.
The film showcases Ranveer Singh in a demanding dual role that spans nearly four hours, marking one of the most ambitious performances of his career. Alongside him, Sanjay Dutt appears as the powerful SSP Chaudhary Aslam, while Arjun Rampal portrays the strategic and ruthless ISI officer Major Iqbal. Rakesh Bedi takes on the role of Jameel Jamali, an Indian informant within Pakistan’s political landscape, inspired by real-life figure Nabeel Gabol. The emotional dimension of the story is strengthened by Sara Arjun, while Yami Gautam makes a notable cameo appearance.
