In a press conference, Trump said: “The entire country could be taken out in one night and that night might be tomorrow night.” While sharing this report with viewers, Sean Fletcher issued another bombshell update on the crisis, revealing Iranian officials have now responded and are prepared to take drastic measures to prevent Trump from targeting the country’s power plants.
“We’ve got some breaking lines on this story,” Sean told viewers. “An Iranian official has called on young people to form human chains around power plants in the country in Tehran.”
He added: “Meanwhile, a warning has been issued by the Israeli military for people to avoid taking trains for the rest of today. A message posted on X reads, ‘Your presence puts your life at risk.’ Iranian negotiators taking part in ceasefire talks are reported to have said they no longer trust the Trump administration.”
The broadcast cut to GMB’s International Editor Emma Murphy, who reported live from Tehran.
She said: “There have been multiple strikes here in Tehran and across Iran during the course of the night and we expect they may build an intensity should there not be some kind of deal that’s agreed.
“This is an incredibly consequential day for this country. President Trump has given until late this evening in order for some kind of deal to be agreed between the Americans and the Iranians, but at this point, it doesn’t seem entirely optimistic.”
Emma added: “Both the Iranians and the Americans have put their proposals to the Pakistanis, who are the joint mediators in this. Neither have approved the others. It is critical for the US to get the Strait of Hormuz reopened, that is very strategically important for the Iranians. They don’t want to do that without absolute guarantees.”
Emma acknowledged that targeting civilian infrastructure constitutes a war crime, noting that there now appears to be “definite efforts” in place to “rein in” what Trump might do in the coming hours.
