Crossfire Chaos: Teenage Girl Fighting for Life After Drive-By Shooting Rocks Brisbane Boxing Event

A 19-year-old woman is fighting for her life and three men have been seriously injured following a brazen drive-by shooting outside a suburban boxing event south of Brisbane on Saturday night.

The shooting occurred at approximately 8:18 p.m. at Fitzy’s Loganholme, a venue hosting a local boxing tournament. According to Queensland Police, a Mitsubishi sedan pulled up to the venue’s passenger drop-off zone, where a group of attendees had gathered. Two men, both wearing balaclavas and gloves, allegedly opened fire from the vehicle’s windows before fleeing the scene.

Detective Inspector Ian Galpin described the event as a “horrific” act of violence in a public space where families and children had gathered for a sporting showcase.

“It’s something that her family should never have to go through,” Inspector Galpin said of the 19-year-old victim, a Jimboomba woman who suffered gunshot wounds to the head and neck. She underwent emergency surgery and remains in critical condition. Authorities have described her as an “innocent bystander” who was caught in the crossfire.

Three men—a 38-year-old from Browns Plains, a 37-year-old from Salisbury, and a 27-year-old from Cornubia—were also struck by gunfire. All three remain in serious but stable conditions with wounds to the abdomen, arm, and torso.

Following the shooting, the suspects allegedly drove to nearby Maloney Road in Waterford West, where they torched the Mitsubishi. The vehicle was later declared a crime scene, and police believe the perpetrators were collected by a second vehicle and fled the area. Inspector Galpin noted that it is possible one of the suspects was injured or burned during the process of setting the car alight.

Logan Mayor Jon Raven expressed deep shock, stating that the community has never witnessed an incident of this nature. He noted that the boxing event was intended to be a family-friendly initiative designed to help at-risk youth steer clear of violence.

“The organiser will be devastated this has happened because he loves boxing and uses it as a tool to empower and reconnect young people who might be going off the rails,” Raven said. “This will impact [the children present] for the rest of their lives.”

Organisers of the event, Logan City Titles, issued a statement on Sunday morning expressing their heartbreak, reiterating that such violence has “no place in the boxing community or any part of the broader community.”

While police have yet to confirm if the shooting is linked to organised crime, they have stressed that the offenders remain at large. However, authorities have urged the public not to panic, stating they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.

Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or information to come forward immediately as the investigation continues.
