BREAKING: Shock as Wren pulls out of US market entirely

Wren first entered the US market with a showroom in Milford, Connecticut, which it called “the biggest kitchen showroom in the USA”.

Kitchen retailer Wren has pulled out of the US market entirely, closing all of its showrooms across the United States of America.

Confirming the news, Wren said: “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the US market and focus investment on accelerating our core UK business which is experiencing double digit growth.

“The US business, a separate legal entity from the UK which is unaffected by this decision, was growing from a small base – accounting for around 4% of our Group’s overall turnover. Its future success however relied on expanding our US retail estate. Despite our best efforts sadly we could not reach agreeable terms that would enable us to do that.

“We have therefore reluctantly taken the decision to appoint a Trustee who will manage our exit from the US market, in line with US regulations. We regret the impact this decision will have on our US colleagues – who we have been informed of our decision – and our customers and thank both of them for their support. We will now focus on growing our UK business with fifteen new showrooms and the launch of new product categories already planned for this year.”

A note on Wren’s US website now simply reads: “We regret to inform you that our showrooms and studios are now closed”. Along with this, users can fill out a digital form if they require further assistance.

Several US-based Wren employees have confirmed they were told about the surprise closure yesterday, on April 23, saying they were “blindsided” by the closure. It is not currently known what will happen to unfulfilled orders.

In its recently released 2025 financial results, in which the company reported passing £1bn in turnover, one of the only year-on-year financial decreases was its turnover in the US market. While Wren still achieved £16.2m in turnover in the US in 2025, this marked a significant 30% decrease in sales compared to 2024’s figure of £23.2m.

Wren first entered the US market in 2020, with a store in Milford, Connecticut. At the time, the retailer boasted it was “the biggest kitchen showroom in the USA” at 31,000 sq ft. That same year, Wren also set up a massive 252,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania, to support its American operations.

In 2022, Wren announced a significant $30m investment into its rollout along America’s East Coast. Following that, in October 2024, Wren also announced a strategic partnership with The Home Depot, one of America’s leading home improvement specialists, to operate Wren concessions within their stores. By January 2025, Wren operated at least 15 stores in the US.

Speaking exclusively to kbbreview last year, Wren confirmed it was looking to turn its attention back to opening more showrooms on UK soil, and that it would be “refocusing on the UK market”.
