A new report, Building Policy Pathways for a Circular Economy, commissioned by Etsy and Depop, suggests that while circular behaviours are already a main part of American life, poor regulation is stifling their full potential.
The report, based on late 2025 research, reveals that 90% of Americans are favourable toward the circular economy once they understand its scope. However, for the millions of Americans using platforms like Depop and Etsy to manage rising living costs or earn supplemental income, the current regulatory landscape often acts as a hurdle rather than a facilitator.
