Fox News shared a breaking announcement about Donald Trump, just one day after he threatened to deploy ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents to the country’s airports. The warning on Saturday (March 22) came five weeks into a partial government shutdown affecting the Department of Homeland Security.
He has now followed through with his threat as Fox News said: “BREAKING: President Trump says ICE agents will be deployed to airports nationwide as growing security concerns, long lines, and delays mount, with TSA checkpoints short-staffed during the ongoing government shutdown.” The programme aired footage from inside an airport, showing hundreds of people waiting in line to check in.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “On Monday, ICE will be going to airports to help our wonderful TSA Agents who have stayed on the job despite the fact that the Radical Left Democrats, who are only focused on protecting hard line criminals who have entered our Country illegally, are endangering the USA by holding back the money that was long ago agreed to with signed and sealed contracts, and all.
“But watch, no matter how great a job ICE does, the Lunatics leading the incompetent Dems will be highly critical of their work. THEY WILL DO A FANTASTIC JOB. The great Tom Homan is in charge!!! President DJT.”
In another scathing post shared shortly before, he claimed that the Democrats have “hurt so many people with their vicious and uncaring ways”, adding that they had ruined the department of Homeland Security.
The shutdown came due to a deadlock between Democrats and Republicans who failed to agree on a deal on their funding and TSA and ICE policies.
Expressing concern about the announcement, one said: “Fix the funding standoff properly instead of turning airports into immigration raid zones. This won’t make flying safer; it’ll make it slower and scarier.”
Another concerned X user added: “Should immigration enforcement officers even be handling airport screening issues, or are we blurring lines that shouldn’t be crossed?”
A third weighed in: “Deploying ICE to assist TSA shows the administration is taking the staffing crisis seriously, but it also raises questions about how immigration enforcement intersects with airport security operations.”
