Police were called by the ambulance service to a flat in Linden Road, Bognor, at about 3.15pm on Sunday, July 12, following a report a man had been seriously assaulted.
The victim – a 44-year-old man from Bognor – sustained significant head and facial injuries, and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a stable condition, police said.
Two men, aged 43 and 62, from Bognor, and a 44-year-old woman of no fixed address, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The men remain in custody while the woman has been bailed while enquiries continue.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “This is being treated as an isolated incident. The people are known to each other and there is no threat to the wider community. Officers will continue to provide a visible presence in the area.”
