The University of Delhi (DU) has announced the schedule for the next phase of undergraduate admissions under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG) 2026, outlining the timeline for mid-entry registrations and the third round of seat allotment. Alongside the fresh admission schedule, the university also reported that more than 71,000 candidates have already confirmed their undergraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic session.With the latest notification, there is yet another chance for candidates who did not take advantage of previous admission rounds or would like to apply for future rounds, along with guidelines for ward quota admissions and seat upgrades.
DU releases timeline for ward quota allocations and seat upgrades
As per the official schedule, the revised allocation and the first allocation list of the ward quota will be uploaded on the CSAS UG 2026 portal on August 1.After the announcement of the allocation list, verification and confirmation of candidates’ applications will take place until August 3. Those candidates who get admitted will need to pay the admission fees by August 4.It is suggested by the university that candidates should keep themselves updated regarding admission-related formalities on the admission portal.
Round 3 seat allotment on August 8
The third round of CSAS UG 2026 counselling will begin with the release of the seat allocation list on August 8. Candidates allotted seats in Round 3 will have to accept their allocations between August 8 and August 11 (11:59 pm). After the acceptance window closes, colleges will verify and approve applications by August 12.The final deadline for payment of the admission fee for Round 3 candidates has been fixed as August 13 (11:59 pm).The third round is expected to fill a significant number of vacant undergraduate seats across various colleges and programmes after the completion of the first two rounds of admissions.
Mid-entry registrations to begin on August 3
To accommodate students who could not participate in the earlier phases of admissions, DU will open the mid-entry registration window from August 3.The registration process will remain open until August 5 (11:59 pm). Candidates who either failed to register during Round I or Round II or could not complete the admission process despite registration will be eligible to participate by paying an additional mid-entry fee of Rs 1,000.The university said the mid-entry provision has been introduced to ensure that eligible candidates are not left out of the admission process due to missed deadlines or incomplete applications.
Mid-entry not available for certain categories
In its notification issued on July 29, DU clarified that the mid-entry facility will not be available for admissions under several special categories and programme-specific quotas.These include:
- Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) Quota
- Sports Quota
- Children/Widows (CW) Quota
- Ward Supernumerary Quota
- Performance-based programmes such as BA (Hons) Music and BSc (Physical Education, Health Education and Sports)
- Practical-based Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) programme
Candidates seeking admission under these categories will have to follow the admission process prescribed separately by the university.
DU admissions cross 71,000 mark
The university has also recorded strong progress in this year’s admission cycle. As of 6:30 pm on July 29, a total of 71,342 students had confirmed their undergraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic session.Among them, 25,088 candidates exercised the ‘Upgrade’ option, signalling their willingness to be considered for a higher-preference college or programme in the upcoming rounds.Meanwhile, 32,233 students selected the ‘Freeze’ option after Round 2, indicating that they were satisfied with their allotted college and course and did not wish to participate in further rounds of seat allocation.The figures suggest that while a substantial number of students have secured their preferred admissions, thousands are still seeking better academic options through the remaining rounds of counselling.
Academic session already underway
The undergraduate academic session for 2026-27 commenced on July 28, with colleges across the University of Delhi conducting orientation programmes for newly admitted students.Candidates participating in the upcoming admission rounds or opting for mid-entry can access the latest notifications, schedules and admission-related updates through the university’s official CSAS UG admission portal.
