Nifty closing delayed as India launches new auction mechanism

Aug 3 (Reuters) – India’s Nifty 50 was up ‌1.6% at 24,774.30 ‌as of 3:30 p.m. IST on Monday, with the index level still not updated as of ‌3:56 p.m. IST.

The BSE Sensex closed 0.7% higher at 78,639.03.

The divergence between the benchmarks followed India’s rollout of the Closed Auction ‌Session, an auction-based mechanism introduced by the market regulator to determine official closing prices for ‌eligible futures and options stocks.

The NSE did not immediately ‌respond to an email seeking comment on the discrepancy.
