Nostalgia Awakens: Sagarika Ghatge and Vivan Bhatena to Share Screen Again After Two Decades

Nearly two decades after their memorable performances in the iconic sports drama ‘Chak De! India’, actors Sagarika Ghatge and Vivan Bhatena are set to reunite for a new cinematic venture. The reunion has sent waves of excitement through their fanbase, offering a nostalgic glimpse as Vivan Bhatena recently shared a playful behind-the-scenes photograph from the sets.

The post, which quickly garnered attention, featured both actors seated comfortably, striking peace signs for the camera. Vivan accompanied the picture with the caption, “#reunion after 20 years… new film coming next year,” explicitly tagging Sagarika. While the film remains untitled, and its plot details, as well as the complete cast, are being kept under wraps by the makers, the project is slated for a 2027 release.

Sagarika Ghatge and Vivan Bhatena’s Memorable Connection in ‘Chak De! India’

Their last on-screen collaboration was in the critically acclaimed 2007 film ‘Chak De! India’, which famously starred Shah Rukh Khan. In the film, Sagarika Ghatge portrayed Preeti Sabarwal, a formidable player on the Indian women’s hockey team, while Vivan Bhatena took on the role of Abhimanyu Singh, the vice-captain of the Indian national cricket team and Preeti’s fiancé. Directed by Shimit Amin, ‘Chak De! India’ not only achieved commercial success but also earned its place as one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved and inspiring sports dramas.

The prospect of seeing these two talents share the screen once more has undoubtedly stirred considerable nostalgia among fans who fondly remember their characters and their chemistry from the popular film.

Sagarika Ghatge Returns to Films After Embracing Motherhood

This upcoming project also marks a significant milestone for Sagarika Ghatge, as it will be her first film appearance since becoming a mother. Sagarika and former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan welcomed their son, Fatehsinh Khan, into their family, an event that saw her step away from the professional limelight for a period.

While she has largely maintained a private profile in recent years, her last feature film role was in the 2020 release ‘Footfairy’. Prior to that, Sagarika had also ventured into the digital entertainment landscape, making her OTT debut in 2019. She played the character of ACP Sakshi Ranjan opposite Karan Singh Grover in ALTBalaji’s ‘BOSS: Baap of Special Services’. With her new film alongside Vivan Bhatena, Sagarika is poised for a notable return to the big screen after a considerable hiatus, much to the anticipation of her admirers.
