Actor Amol Parashar is preparing to surprise audiences with a completely different character in his upcoming series The Bureaucrat. After receiving praise for his performance in Gram Chikitsalay, the actor has now stepped into a morally grey role that explores deception, power, and survival within the system. According to Amol, the series represents a significant shift in his acting journey. Unlike his previous character, this role allows him to explore a more layered personality with several shades. The actor believes the project marks a fresh phase in his career and gives him the opportunity to portray a character unlike anything he has done before. Reflecting on the project, he described it as “An interesting turn for my career.”
Series may receive new Hindi title
Apart from discussing his role, Amol also revealed that the title of the series may change before its release. He said the makers are considering a Hindi title because many people have struggled to remember the current English name. Sharing a few amusing incidents, the actor explained in an interview with Mid Day that even his close friends and family often mixed up the title. Their reactions eventually convinced him that a simpler name could make the series easier for audiences to identify.Recalling those conversations, he said, “I heard they might go with Hindi title. I have tried the name out with my friends, and none of them could remember it. Someone is calling it Diplomat; my own mother is asking me, ‘When is that Aristocrat series coming?’ It was originally called The Fake Bureaucrat.”
Story revolves around a fake IAS officer
Directed by Sandeep Jain, ‘The Bureaucrat’ follows the journey of a UPSC aspirant whose life changes dramatically after he begins impersonating an IAS officer. What starts as an unexpected situation gradually develops into a larger story involving deception, ambition, and the workings of the system. Amol explained that his character does not begin as a criminal. Instead, circumstances gradually push him into a life of impersonation before he starts using the system’s loopholes to his advantage.Speaking about the role, he said, “I play the guy who becomes the system. It becomes interesting when he starts beating the system at its own game. It chronicles a lot of cases of fake IAS and IPS officers conducting raids. There are a lot of such cases happening all over India. He becomes an unwilling conman. It has a bit of the Catch Me If You Can vibe, when he starts scamming the system.”The actor believes audiences will get to see a completely different side of him in the upcoming series. While Gram Chikitsalay presented him as a kind-hearted village doctor, The Bureaucrat places him in a much more morally complicated world. The story examines questions of identity, authority, and corruption while following a man who unexpectedly finds himself living a fabricated life. Amol feels the layered nature of the character made the project particularly exciting and allowed him to step outside his comfort zone.‘The Bureaucrat’ is currently being developed under the direction of Sandeep Jain. Although the release date has not yet been announced.
