Apple iPhone 18 Pro Release Timeline: New Date Enters The Schedule

Apple’s Biggest Event of the Year: What to Expect from the iPhone 18 Launch

Apple has officially set the stage for its most highly anticipated event of the calendar year. On Wednesday, September 9, all eyes will turn to the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino, where the tech giant is expected to unveil a wave of next-generation hardware.

The event, which begins at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. U.K.), is shaping up to be a historic presentation. While the company remains characteristically tight-lipped about the specifics, industry analysts and supply chain leaks point to five major product announcements.

A New Era of Hardware

The star of the show will undoubtedly be the iPhone 18 Pro, which is rumored to arrive in four refreshed colorways. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is also expected to make an appearance, potentially featuring a significant battery capacity upgrade.

Perhaps most exciting is the anticipation surrounding Apple’s first foldable smartphone. Speculation regarding its naming convention—whether it will be dubbed the “iPhone Ultra” or something entirely new—has dominated tech circles for months. Rounding out the hardware lineup are the expected debuts of the Apple Watch Ultra 4 and the Apple Watch Series 12.

A Departure from Tradition: Pre-Order Changes

In a notable shift from its standard operating procedure, Apple appears to be adjusting its pre-order schedule. Typically, the company opens pre-sales at 5 a.m. PT on the Friday following its keynote. However, because that Friday, September 11, marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Apple is reportedly rescheduling to show respect for the solemn date.

According to reports citing sources like MacWelt, pre-orders are now predicted to begin at midnight PT on Saturday, September 12. This transition to a midnight launch—which equates to 3 a.m. ET and 8 a.m. in the U.K.—marks a departure from the traditional early-morning Pacific time release.

When Can You Buy It?

While the pre-order schedule has shifted, the retail release appears to be following the familiar path. The new devices are expected to arrive in stores on Friday, September 18.

Apple typically synchronizes store openings to 8 a.m. local time, meaning that customers in regions like Australia will be among the first in the world to get their hands on the latest hardware, simply due to their position on the globe.

As the industry prepares for this major reveal, enthusiasts are watching closely to see how the pricing of these new models will settle, particularly given the ongoing volatility in the memory chip market which has previously sparked fears of a price hike.

Stay tuned for further updates as more details are confirmed in the lead-up to the event.
