For Laapataa Ladies actress Pratibha Ranta, who recently walked the ramp at the Bombay Times Fashion Week, performing — whether on screen or on the runway — continues to excite her. Recalling her early love for the stage, she said, “As a child, I used to love dancing and performing. The feeling of being just out there or walking the ramp transports you to a different world.”However it comes with its share of challenges. “Walking the ramp is not a cakewalk. There is a kind of madness that goes on backstage. There’s a lot of effort that goes into what people finally see on stage. You have to constantly be in discussions with the designer about alterations and fittings,” she shared. Talking about her style choices, Pratibha said, “Of course, comfort comes first, but celebs do have to dress a certain way on different occasions. It is all about how you feel when you wear an outfit. The confidence with which you own even your T-shirt and jeans and rock it with style is what’s important. I feel most comfortable in a black gown when it comes to formal occasions. Black and white are versatile colours, but my favourite is purple. I love the colour.”After receiving widespread acclaim for Laapataa Ladies, the actress admitted there is added pressure to live up to expectations. “I’m grateful for the love and blessings I got for my work in Laapataa Ladies, but the appreciation comes with responsibility.
