'Awarapan 2' box office collection Day 2 [LIVE]: Emraan Hashmi film races towards Rs 30 crore after Rs 22 crore opening

“Awarapan 2,” the much-anticipated sequel to the 2007 cult classic, has commenced its theatrical run with remarkable success, significantly impacting the domestic box office. Opening on August 14th, the film, starring Emraan Hashmi, quickly established itself as a strong contender. On its inaugural day, “Awarapan 2” garnered an impressive net collection of Rs 22 crore across India, an achievement that marks Emraan Hashmi’s most successful opening day to date. This robust performance is particularly noteworthy given its direct competition with Sunny Deol’s “Batwara 1947,” which also premiered on the same Independence Day holiday.

The initial figures indicate that “Awarapan 2” has emerged as the clear frontrunner in this cinematic clash, surpassing its rival’s opening numbers by a significant margin. The Independence Day holiday provided a crucial impetus, positioning the film to rapidly approach the Rs 30 crore India net milestone. With a strong start, the film’s team and fans alike are eagerly monitoring its progress, anticipating that continued momentum through the extended weekend will solidify its position and potentially set new benchmarks for its overall box office trajectory.

Delving deeper into the financial specifics, the first day saw “Awarapan 2” generate a total India gross collection of Rs 26.40 crore. Furthermore, its global appeal was evident with an additional Rs 2.50 crore accumulated from overseas markets, bringing the worldwide gross to a substantial Rs 28.90 crore by the close of Day 1. As for Day 2, live tracking data from sources like Sacnilk indicates that the film, currently running across 4,102 shows, has already added Rs 4.74 crore net to its tally. This brings the cumulative India gross collections to Rs 31.99 crore and the total India net collections to Rs 26.74 crore, even before the final Day 2 figures are officially reported.

The narrative of “Awarapan 2” reintroduces audiences to Emraan Hashmi’s iconic character, Shivam Pandit, picking up the story as he navigates a return to the perilous world of crime. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Films, this action thriller sequel explores themes of redemption, love, and sacrifice. The film also features Disha Patani as Zara and Shabana Azmi as Nafisa Nawaz, with special appearances from Shriya Saran and Shaad Randhawa, enriching the ensemble cast. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) awarded the film a U/A 16+ certificate, following some mandated deletions to scenes depicting child trafficking and drug consumption, resulting in a final runtime of 140 minutes. Upon its theatrical release, “Awarapan 2” has garnered a range of reviews, from positive to mixed, with many critics commending Hashmi’s intense performance and the film’s successful effort to maintain an emotional connection to its beloved predecessor. It is important to note that all box office figures mentioned are compiled from various public and industry sources and are approximate, subject to change as official studio data is updated or international market reports are finalized.
