Honey Singh Declares Yash’s Ravana "Better Than Ranbir Kapoor’s Ram" in Upcoming Epic
Mumbai, India – Rapper and singer Yo Yo Honey Singh has ignited a buzz around Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated film, Ramayana, by strongly endorsing actor Yash’s portrayal of the formidable antagonist, Ravana. In a candid Instagram Live session on Thursday, Singh shared his fervent admiration for Yash’s look, even going as far as to state that the KGF star’s Ravana surpasses Ranbir Kapoor’s depiction of Lord Ram in his personal opinion.
Singh, who described himself as a devout follower of Lord Ram, revealed that he had caught a glimpse of the film’s teaser and was immediately captivated by Yash’s commanding presence. "Yash bhai hai Bengaluru se hamare. Ravana bane hain," Singh declared, referring to Yash as a brother from Bengaluru. "Sach kahun doston, maine ‘Ramayana’ ka teaser dekha hai. Main Shri Ram ka bahut bada bhakt hoon. Mera Ravana se koi lena-dena nahi hai. But Yash bhai kya lag rahe hain. Mere opinion mein Ranbir bhai se zyada achhe mujhe (Yash is our brother from Bengaluru, and he’s playing Ravana. To be honest, friends, I’ve seen the teaser of Ramayana. I’m a huge devotee of Lord Ram, so I have nothing to do with Ravana. But Yash bhai looks absolutely amazing. In my opinion, I think he looks even better than Ranbir bhai)."
The 43-year-old artist also expressed a deep personal connection to the epic, reminiscing about his childhood experiences with Ramlila performances in Delhi. He emphasized the importance of preserving the sanctity and emotional core of the narrative for audiences who have grown up with it. "I hope ki movie bahut achhi ho. Kisi ke sentiments ko hurt na kare. Jaisi hum bachpan se Ramayana dekhte aaye hain, jo hum Delhi mein aur Karampura mein Ramleela dekhte aaye hain, jitni pure thi hamare liye, waisi hi rahe," Singh pleaded. "Koi ched-chhad na ho. Kyunki emotions hain bachpan ke." (I hope the movie is very good. It doesn’t hurt anyone’s sentiments. Just as we have been watching Ramayana since childhood, the Ramleelas we saw in Delhi and Karampura, as pure as it was for us, it should remain that way. There should be no tampering. Because these are childhood emotions.)
Honey Singh’s effusive praise comes at a pivotal moment for the film, with the makers recently announcing its ambitious release schedule. Produced by Namit Malhotra, the first installment of Ramayana is slated to grace cinemas on November 6, 2026, strategically timed just two days before Diwali. A second part is anticipated to follow around Diwali 2027, though a precise date is yet to be confirmed. The film boasts a stellar cast, with Ranbir Kapoor reportedly playing Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi rumored to be essaying the role of Sita. The casting of Yash as Ravana has already garnered significant attention, and Singh’s endorsement is likely to further amplify the anticipation surrounding his villainous turn.
The makers have committed to a grand scale production, aiming to bring the revered epic to life with cutting-edge technology and visual spectacle. However, as Honey Singh highlighted, the challenge lies in balancing this ambition with the deep-rooted emotional and spiritual significance the story holds for millions. His sentiments underscore the delicate task before the filmmakers: to deliver a modern cinematic experience while honoring the timeless essence of the Ramayana.
