BRD Nashik overhauls Indian Navy’s MIG-29K ejection seat

Nashik: Base Repair Depot of the Indian Air Force has successfully completed the indigenous overhaul of the first ejection seat for the Indian Navy‘s MiG-29K fighter aircraft.According to an officer, “The ejection seats of MiG-29K of Indian Navy were, till now, being sent to Russia for overhaul. The BRD IAF has now overhauled the same, and it was handed over to the India Navy.BRD Nashik undertakes the major overhaul of MiG-29 and Su-30 MKI ac and its aggregates.Over the years, the depot has developed deep technical expertise, robust repair capability and specialised infrastructure to support complex maintenance requirements of the two fleets.By leveraging their extensive experience with the Su-30 MKI ejection seat, the BRD successfully formulated the overhaul technology for the ejection seat of the Indian Navy’s MiG-29 K, which was approved by Regional Centre for Military Airworthiness (RCMA).“Today the overhauled ejection seat was handed over to the Indian Navy at Nashik in the presence of Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, AOC-in-C Maintenance Command (IAF) and Vice Admiral Rahul Gokhale, Chief of Staff, WNC (IN),” the officer said.The achievement reflects the Indian Air Force’s commitment to strengthening domestic maintenance capability and reducing dependence on external support.Asked if such ‘ejection seats’ will be manfucatured here, the officer said, “As of now we have handed it over o the Indian Navy. Future decisions will be taken by the respective offices in future.”
