BREAKING NEWS: Informa and MCH Group launch new Basel jewellery and watch fair

The new event, named Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair, will make its debut in April 2027, following Watches & Wonders in Geneva, at Messe Basel and is expected to bring together more than 400 exhibitors from across the jewellery, gemstone and watch sectors.

The launch is particularly significant as MCH Group, the organiser behind the former Baselworld exhibition, re-enters the jewellery and watch trade fair market through its first collaboration with Informa Markets, organiser of Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) and one of the industry’s largest global event portfolios.

The organisers said Basilia has been designed to create a meeting point between Asian manufacturing and sourcing expertise and European retail and luxury markets, while attracting participants from across the wider global industry.

The inaugural event will take place in Hall 2 of Messe Basel and will welcome manufacturers, designers, brands, retailers, wholesalers, distributors and sourcing specialists.

Basilia will be structured as a series of themed districts and neighbourhoods, including dedicated areas for jewellery, diamonds and gemstones, watches, Switzerland, technology and key international regions.

Margaret Ma Connolly, president and chief executive officer of Informa Markets in Asia, said: “Partnering with MCH Group was a natural choice. Both of our organisations are leaders in creating platforms where business thrives and meaningful connections are made.

“Together, we are building a global event that responds to the industry’s evolving needs while celebrating the diversity that makes it so dynamic.”

Celine Lau, director of jewellery fairs at Informa Markets, added: “We go where the market needs us most and where we can create genuine value. Sourcing has never been more complex.

“Basilia bridges that gap by directly connecting buyers with specialised suppliers who bring authentic expertise and fresh perspectives.”

Andrea Zappia, chief executive ad interim of MCH Group, said the event had been designed around the future needs of the jewellery and watch industries.

He said: “By combining Informa Markets’ global reach and deep understanding of the industrial ecosystem with MCH Group’s expertise in creating world-class event platforms, we are establishing in Basel a new kind of international stage – one conceived from the outset to connect supply and demand across continents.”

In addition to exhibition space, Basilia will feature seminars, panel discussions and conferences designed to encourage knowledge-sharing and industry dialogue.
