Activewear Giant Fabletics Announces Strategic Expansion into the Indian Market

NEW DELHI – Global activewear powerhouse Fabletics has officially confirmed its entry into India, marking a major milestone in the brand’s international growth strategy. The expansion will be spearheaded through a long-term strategic partnership with Reliance Brands, the luxury and premium retail arm of Reliance Industries.

The brand plans to launch a comprehensive omnichannel presence, offering consumers a blend of physical retail spaces and digital shopping experiences. The inaugural mono-brand retail location is slated to open at the DLF Promenade mall in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, with a subsequent store launch already in the pipeline for Mumbai. While specific opening dates remain under wraps, the industry anticipates a significant impact on the premium athleisure segment.

A Robust Omnichannel Strategy

Under the leadership of Reliance, Fabletics will utilize a multi-pronged approach to capture the Indian market. According to a company statement released on August 25, the strategy focuses on integrating standalone retail stores with a high-functioning e-commerce platform and “experiential brand environments” designed to foster deeper consumer engagement.

The product lineup will cater to both men and women, featuring a versatile range of apparel suited for core training, running, yoga, and pilates. By combining performance-driven technology with trend-conscious aesthetics, the brand aims to appeal to the growing demographic of health-conscious Indian consumers.

Tapping into a Growing Lifestyle Trend

The partnership is viewed as a natural synergy between Fabletics’ global reputation for value and performance and Reliance’s deep understanding of the Indian consumer landscape.

“India represents an important next step in Fabletics’ international growth,” said Meera Bhatia, President of Fabletics. “We built the brand around the idea that consumers shouldn’t have to choose between performance, style, and value, and we see that proposition resonating strongly with the way India’s active consumer is evolving.”

For Reliance, the addition of Fabletics to their portfolio is a strategic move to capitalize on the country’s shifting cultural attitudes toward wellness.

“India is undergoing an incredible transformation, driven by young consumers embracing movement, mindfulness, and athleisure as essential to their everyday lives,” noted Sumeet Yadav, head of the Reliance team managing the rollout. “As we looked to expand our activewear portfolio, Fabletics stood out for its distinctive approach to making fashion-forward design accessible and built for everyday wear. We’re excited to see the considerable opportunity to introduce the brand to a new generation of active consumers.”

As the Indian athleisure market continues to mature, the entry of a digital-native disruptor like Fabletics is expected to intensify competition and elevate the standards of retail design and consumer experience across the nation.
