Square Enix has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will ship on a single Blu-ray disc, a departure from its predecessor, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which famously launched as a two-disc title to accommodate its massive file size.

While the shift to a single disc might seem like a win for collectors, the publisher has clarified that this convenience comes with a catch. According to an official Final Fantasy 7 Revelation disclaimer, “an internet connection is required to download additional game data in order to play the physical version of the game.”

The Reality of Modern Storage

This requirement is not exclusive to the PlayStation 5; Square Enix has noted that the mandatory download policy will apply across all platforms, including Xbox Series X|S and the upcoming Switch 2.

The necessity for a digital supplement stems from the sheer scale of the title. With the game estimated to occupy roughly 130GB on Nintendo’s hardware, players on other platforms should expect similar, if not larger, file sizes once high-resolution assets and technical optimizations are accounted for. • Standard Edition: Specially marked “Day One” copies will include an exclusive Magic: The Gathering card.
• Deluxe Edition: A premium package that bundles the game with a physical soundtrack, a curated art book, and a collectible steelbook case.
