A record-breaking crowd turned out at the Genesis Scottish Open this week.

With the world’s best players descending on The Renaissance Club, the Scottish faithful turned up to show their support, with the DP World Tour confirming a record attendance for the week.

Across the week, 91,128 fans passed through the gates, an increase on last year’s record that had been set at 88,735.

Like 2025, the event across both Saturday and Sunday was a sell out, as a bumper crowd watched Tom Kim get over the line to secure his first victory in over four years.

The championship has gone from strength to strength in recent years, having been co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour alongside the DP World Tour in 2021.

Since then, the event has attracted one of the strongest fields in golf, with the top performers from both tours teeing it up in East Lothian.

The co-sanctioning has seen a number of Americans make the rare venture across to Europe, including world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who has become a regular in Scotland in recent years.

As for the Scottish crowds, Scheffler said this week: “Being over here in the Home of Golf, we have good fans over here. [We] always get good support.”

Its position in the scheduling has been a huge positive for tournament organisers, with the event taking place just a week before The Open Championship, allowing Scheffler and Co an extra week of British golf before contesting for the Claret Jug

“You’re playing a world-class field,” said Jon Rahm in the build-up to this year’s Genesis Scottish Open.

“As far as strength of field goes, it does feel like you have two majors in a row without being a major, right, it’s that good. It speaks to how good this event is for all these players to come in here.”
