Google Launches “Live” Gemini Features for Gmail, Docs, and Keep

Following a highly anticipated reveal at Google I/O 2026, Google is officially rolling out its new suite of voice-powered AI tools: Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live. After a successful testing period earlier this year, these advanced capabilities are now available to users, marking a significant shift toward seamless, hands-free productivity within the Google Workspace ecosystem.

The rollout of these generative AI features underscores Google’s commitment to integrating Gemini deeper into its core mobile applications.

Gmail Live: Your Inbox, Spoken

Gmail Live transforms the way users interact with their email by enabling natural, spoken conversations with their inbox. Rather than manually digging through threads or searching for buried details, users can now ask Gemini to retrieve specific information. The interface supports conversational follow-up questions, allowing users to switch topics mid-stream without the need to restart the session.

The experience is presented in a full-screen interface that provides a live transcript of the dialogue, complete with direct links to the source emails. The feature is available now for Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers on both Android and iOS in English-speaking markets worldwide.

Docs Live: A Hands-Free Co-Writer

Designed as a “thought partner,” Docs Live is built to accelerate the drafting process. Whether you are generating summaries, proposals, or creative outlines, Gemini can synthesize information across your Gmail, Drive, Chat, and the open web to provide a structured starting point.

Before a document is finalized, Docs Live offers a concise recap of the collected data, allowing the user to refine the content, formatting, and tone via voice commands. Users can launch this experience by tapping the new “Create with voice” option found within the floating action button (FAB) in the Google Docs app. Access is currently limited to AI Pro and Ultra users on Android and iOS.

Keep Live: Capturing the “Brain Dump”

Google Keep is also receiving a significant intelligence boost. Keep Live is designed to process stream-of-consciousness audio, automatically turning spoken thoughts into structured notes or checklists.

Gemini’s contextual awareness is the standout feature here; it doesn’t just record audio, it understands intent. For instance, telling the app to add “ingredients for pesto pasta” to a list will intelligently categorize the items. Furthermore, the feature can update existing notes rather than just creating new ones—simply telling the app to add an item to an existing grocery list will update the document instantly.

Keep Live is currently available for Android users with AI Pro and Ultra subscriptions.

Availability

While individual users can begin using these features today, Google has confirmed that Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live are also slated to arrive for Google Workspace business customers in the near future. As Google continues to refine its AI-first mobile strategy, these tools represent a major step toward making the smartphone a more intuitive and conversational assistant for complex professional and personal tasks.
