IOB Local Bank Officer Recruitment 2026: Final Call to Apply for 250 Vacancies

Aspiring banking professionals have until the end of the day to secure their spot in the Indian Overseas Bank (IOB). The online application window for the IOB LBO recruitment 2026 officially closes today, August 24, 2026.

The recruitment drive aims to fill 250 positions for Local Bank Officers (LBO) under the Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I) cadre. First announced on August 7, 2026, the process is now in its final hours, and eligible candidates are urged to complete their registration and fee payments immediately via the official IOB portal.

Vacancy Distribution and Eligibility

The 250 vacancies are strategically distributed across four states, with a mandatory requirement for candidates to possess proficiency in the local language of the region they are applying for:

  • Tamil Nadu: 100 posts
  • Karnataka: 50 posts
  • Maharashtra: 50 posts
  • Gujarat: 50 posts

To be eligible, applicants must hold a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Candidates must also fall within the age bracket of 20 to 30 years as of August 1, 2026, though age relaxations are available for reserved-category applicants in accordance with government regulations.

Salary, Benefits, and Bond

Successful candidates will be recruited under the JMGS-I scale, with a competitive pay structure ranging from ₹48,480 to ₹85,920. As part of the appointment terms, candidates must execute a financial service indemnity bond of ₹2 lakh and commit to a minimum service period of three years with the bank.

Selection Procedure

The selection process is rigorous and multi-faceted, consisting of:

  1. Online Examination: Covering Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, Data Analysis and Interpretation, and English Language.
  2. Local Language Proficiency Test: Required for those who cannot demonstrate proficiency through their Class 10 or 12 marksheets.
  3. Personal Interview: Final evaluation of the candidate’s suitability.
  4. Document Verification and Medical Examination.

Candidates who have not yet submitted their applications should follow these steps:

  • Visit the official IOB Careers page.
  • Select the link for “Local Bank Officers 2026-27.”
  • Complete the registration process and fill in all required educational and personal information.
  • Upload mandatory documents, including a photograph, signature, left thumb impression, and a handwritten declaration.
  • Application Fees: General, OBC, and EWS candidates must pay ₹850, while SC, ST, and PwBD candidates are required to pay an intimation charge of ₹175.
  • Submit the form and retain a printed copy of the final application and payment receipt for future reference.

With the deadline set for today, candidates are encouraged not to wait until the final hour to avoid potential technical issues on the portal.
