Selected as a NASA astronaut in 2013, Meir leveraged her expertise in human physiology and extreme environments to become one of the agency’s most seasoned spacewalkers. With her latest outing, she has now logged 49 hours and 22 minutes of cumulative spacewalk time.
Sophie Adenot: Engineering and Aviation Excellence
In contrast, Sophie Adenot’s path was forged in aerospace engineering and military aviation. An alumna of ISAE-SUPAERO in Toulouse and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Adenot specialized in flight dynamics and human factors engineering. Her career path included extensive service as a helicopter test pilot for the French Air Force, where she accumulated over 3,000 flight hours across 22 different aircraft types.
Selected by the ESA in 2022, Adenot’s rise has been meteoric. Her participation in this mission—part of her debut Epsilon spaceflight—marked her third career spacewalk, cementing her status as a key figure in international space collaboration.
