President Donald Trump was branded “unhinged” as his Meet the Press interview descended into pure chaos and stated: “I’ve had enough,” before ripping off his microphone and walking out. This came after the 79-year-old was repeatedly challenged after making accusations that the current primary elections in California and the 2020 presidential election were “rigged”. When NBC host Kristen Welker pressed for evidence, Trump pushed back: “Do you think it’s appropriate that they have an election and five days later, they’re nowhere close to picking a winner?”
“State local officials acknowledged they are slow,” Kristen responded, as Trump hit back: “No, they’re crooked.” She argued: “They’re urging the votes to be counted quicker, that’s how they vote in California.” Despite this, the President blurted out insults: “They’re crooked, just like you’re crooked,” before ending the interview: “Sorry, let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough.” NBC viewers were left gobsmacked by their interaction, as one wrote: “Trump’s got a point about the nonstop hostile coverage, but walking out mid-interview just hands them the ‘unhinged’ clips they want. Should’ve stayed and dropped the receipts instead. Both sides look messy here.” Taking to X/Twitter, a second questioned: “Honestly, if they’re so crooked, Mr President, why agree to do an interview with this network?”
Another viewer blasted: “This f***ing unprofessional child. Yet it was the end of the world when Obama wore a tan suit. Idiots.”
“F***ing loser. If you can’t handle pushback from the press, you shouldn’t be in the most stressful job in the world,” echoed a fourth.
As one noted: “He’s saying elections are rigged while bragging about winning an election… ok, man…”
A fifth commented: “This is f***ing hilarious.. this is our president. What a joke,” while another added: “This is embarrassing. He’s such an embarrassment. Such a child.”
Before his walkout, Trump issued a brutal put-down and told Kristen: “They’re crooked just like you’re crooked, the press is crooked, and Meet the Press is Crooked.”
This then prompted the host to respond: “To be fair, I’m not crooked.” To which Trump claimed:” Really? Well, you play right into their hands, and you’re either crooked or you’re stupid.”
Despite trying to continue the interview, the NBC star was forced to tell the politician: “Mr President, you’ve never presented evidence,” as he complained about the common delays in the meticulous vote-counting process and broad use of mail-in ballots, and claimed this meant that “they’re cheating the election.”
After a further heated exchange, Trump said, “Let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough. Thank you, darling, have a good time.”
Kristen pleaded, “Don’t go,” to continue the interview, but Trump interrupted: “I’ve sat in the rain with you for an hour, on and off in the rain, and I’ve given you enough time.
“You ought to straighten out your press, because you know what? A country can never be great with a dishonest press.”
The President then gestured to people behind the camera, saying, “Come on, let’s go”, before walking off the set.
