New £240m sustainable farming budget leaves farmers and nature groups ‘frustrated at lack of environmental ambition’


Environment secretary Emma Reynolds has announced that DEFRA has allocated £240m for this year’s Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme, but commentators from both the farming union and nature groups have warned that the cash will not go far enough to meet the government’s green ambitions.
