Colas Appoints Emma Murray as New Head of Environment, Quality and Social Value
Infrastructure specialist Colas has announced the appointment of Emma Murray as its new Head of Environment, Quality and Social Value, marking a strategic promotion from within its existing leadership ranks.
In her new capacity, Ms. Murray will be responsible for overseeing the company’s comprehensive approach to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and social impact. By working cross-functionally across the business, she is tasked with driving continuous improvement and ensuring the delivery of long-term value for Colas’ diverse range of clients, local communities, and key stakeholders.
The firm emphasized that Ms. Murray’s appointment is a natural progression of her contributions since she first joined the organization in 2018. During her tenure, she has been instrumental in shaping the company’s carbon reduction strategy and environmental management framework, proving herself a driving force behind Colas’ commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.
Prior to stepping into this senior leadership role, Ms. Murray served as the company’s Environmental Manager. Her deep technical background at Colas is further complemented by her previous service as a SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) systems and compliance officer, as well as an environmental advisor.
Her appointment follows an extensive career in the infrastructure and service sectors. Before her time at Colas, Ms. Murray held environmental advisory roles at several notable industry firms, including JSM Group, Services & Trade, The Rydon Group, and Ringway Jacobs.
This leadership change comes at a pivotal time for the infrastructure sector, as firms face increasing pressure to meet net-zero targets and improve social value outcomes. As the company continues to evolve its operational standards, this environmental head appointment signals a continued dedication to integrating sustainability at the core of the business’s growth strategy.
