SBA to Host ‘Million Dollar Pitch’ Competition with Celebrity Judges in Washington
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Small Business Administration (SBA) is set to host a high-stakes showdown in the nation’s capital this September, as five American entrepreneurs prepare to compete for a $1 million prize pool in the inaugural “Million Dollar Pitch Competition.”
The live event, scheduled for September 18, aims to celebrate the spirit of American enterprise as the nation observes its 250th anniversary. SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler described the competition as a “historic live event” designed to highlight the essential contributions of small businesses to the domestic economy.
A Celebrity-Studded Panel
The competition will feature a star-studded panel of judges tasked with evaluating the finalists. The lineup includes chart-topping recording artist Nicki Minaj, renowned private equity fund manager and entrepreneur Grant Cardone, and Joe Gebbia, the co-founder of Airbnb and U.S. Chief Design Officer. Award-winning actor Dean Cain has been tapped to host the proceedings.
“Their participation brings invaluable real-world perspective as our five exceptional finalists compete for a share of $1 million in growth capital,” said Administrator Loeffler. “I look forward to joining them next month as we recognize the innovators and job creators who power American strength.”
The Finalists
The five businesses advancing to the final stage were selected for their economic impact, operational excellence, and ability to strengthen national competitiveness. The companies include:
- Compotech, Inc. (Brewer, ME) – Defense technology
- Winton Machine (Suwanee, GA) – Metalworking machinery
- Plas-Tech Tooling (Garner, IA) – Plastic mold manufacturing
- Red River (Gillette, WY) – Pressure vessel manufacturing
- VetPowered LLC (San Diego, CA) – Machinery manufacturing
The prize pool ensures that every finalist walks away with capital to grow their business: $400,000 for first place, $250,000 for second, $150,000 for third, $125,000 for fourth, and $75,000 for fifth.
A Familiar Format
The event, which seeks to spotlight private-sector innovation, bears a striking resemblance to the structure of The Apprentice, the iconic reality television series that saw Donald Trump serve as host for 14 seasons. The competition is widely viewed as a continuation of the Trump administration’s efforts to revive the business-centric energy that defined his pre-presidential career.
This event complements the administration’s broader economic agenda, which has recently included the introduction of “Trump Accounts”—tax-deferred investment vehicles for newborns designed to foster long-term entrepreneurial growth and ensure widespread participation in the nation’s economic success.
As the finalists prepare for their presentations in Washington, the event stands as a testament to the administration’s focus on “punching above its weight” in the global marketplace, prioritizing business fundamentals, and celebrating the ingenuity of the American workforce.
