Ofsted praises nursery for delivering a nurturing and ambitious environment

Little VIPS Day Care Celebrated by OFSTED for Exemplary Early Years Provision

HACKTHORPE, PENRITH – Little VIPS Day Care, nestled in the picturesque village of Hackthorpe, Penrith, has received resounding praise from OFSTED, earning a ‘strong’ rating across all areas following a recent inspection on June 17. The recognition highlights the nursery’s commitment to delivering a nurturing and ambitious early years environment, a testament to the collective efforts of its dedicated staff, governors, and school leadership.

The comprehensive inspection formed a crucial part of the registration process, marking a significant milestone in Little VIPS’ journey since its transition to a governor-led setting in July 2024. This structural shift has evidently strengthened the nursery’s operational framework and educational vision.

Michelle Clark, the proud headteacher, expressed her delight at the outcome. “We are absolutely delighted with this outcome,” she stated. “Since Little VIPS became a governor-led nursery in July 2024, our dedicated staff have worked incredibly hard to create a warm, welcoming, and inspiring environment where every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged to thrive.”

Clark further emphasized the significance of the inspection as a validation of the team’s relentless dedication. “This inspection is a wonderful recognition of their commitment and professionalism, and I would like to thank every member of the team for the care they show each and every day.” She also extended gratitude to the families and governors, acknowledging their pivotal role in supporting Little VIPS’ seamless integration with Lowther Endowed School, which now provides a continuous learning pathway for children aged nine months through to 11 years.

OFSTED inspectors lauded the exceptional quality of experiences provided to the children and the ambitious nature of the curriculum. Their report specifically highlighted that “The curriculum is skilfully delivered so that children build their skills and become confident and independent learners.” The inspectors’ comments further underscored the nursery’s dynamic environment, noting, “Children thrive at this setting due to the dynamic leadership, ambitious curriculum and knowledgeable staff.”

The integration of Little VIPS Day Care into the Lowther Endowed School family has created a holistic educational journey for its young learners. This strategic alignment ensures a smooth progression for children, fostering consistent growth and development from their earliest years.

Alice Vince, Chair of Governors, reflected on the vision behind this integration. “Bringing Little VIPS Day Care into the Lowther Endowed School family was an exciting opportunity to strengthen our provision for children and families in the local community,” she explained. “We wanted to build on the nursery’s existing strengths while creating a seamless educational pathway from the earliest years through to the end of primary school.” Vince concluded by expressing immense pride in the collective achievement and optimism for the future development of Little VIPS.

Hayley Fassam, the nursery manager, attributed the outstanding outcome directly to the unwavering commitment of her team. “This achievement is something I am incredibly proud of,” she said. “This ‘Strong’ judgement reflects the dedication they bring to creating a nurturing, inspiring environment where every child feels valued and can thrive.”
