The veteran actor had traveled to Chennai for a project but returned home prematurely, feeling that the superstar was “throwing his weight around.” Amrish Puri reportedly expressed his discomfort to the producer, effectively walking away from the collaboration.
However, the story did not end there. Rajinikanth eventually reached out to clear the air, offering a sincere apology. The gesture paved the way for a professional reconciliation, and the two went on to collaborate on the acclaimed film Thalapathi. “Sunny Deol and Ajay Devgn considered him their dad. They were like sons to him,” Rajeev shared. “Sunny had so much love in his heart for Daddy and was emotionally attached to him.” He further recalled that Ajay Devgn, who worked with Amrish in his 1991 debut Phool Aur Kaante, maintained a similar bond. The depth of this affection is such that even today, when Sunny or Ajay pass by the Puri family home, they make it a point to turn and pay their silent respects to the late actor.
