Rajpal Yadav has long viewed yoga as much more than a fitness discipline. Practised since childhood, it has shaped his outlook towards work and understanding of life. Reflecting on yoga around International Yoga Day yesterday, he says, “As an artiste, a seeker and a student of life, yoga has always been much more than a physical practice. It has been my passion since childhood and an integral part of my dedication to work. To me, yoga is the union of body, mind and soul. It connects us with ourselves, our families, society and the entire world.”Rajpal believes his experience as an actor has deepened his understanding of yoga. He shares, “Through my journey of portraying hundreds of characters, I have learnt that every life experience is a lesson. Yoga, meditation and mindfulness help us embrace these experiences with gratitude.”The actor says, “I’ve been through challenging times lately, but yoga has helped me stay positive and keep going. Life is beautiful, but it also comes with its share of challenges, conflicts and struggles. When yoga enters our lives, it gives us a new perspective, bringing peace, positivity and clarity. From the moment we wake up until we go to sleep, we face countless thoughts, decisions and emotions. Yoga helps us navigate these challenges with patience and inner strength.”Rajpal adds, “I believe that yoga is one of humanity’s greatest treasures. It is rooted in India’s culture and philosophy, but its message belongs to the entire world. Yoga teaches truth, compassion, non-violence, purity and the timeless belief of ‘Vasudhaiva — Kutumbakam’ and ‘the world is one family’. If we can dedicate time to work, sleep and our responsibilities, we can certainly spare a few moments for yoga. Let us not celebrate Yoga Day for just one day, but make every day a Yoga Day.”
