Canterbury residents are invited to discover hidden gems at a Reuse Pop-up shop event at Canterbury Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) on Sunday 28 June.
This event organised by FCC Environment in partnership with Kent County Council, is the first of three planned for East Kent this summer. Residents can drop in, no booking required just to visit the reuse pop-up shop, between 10am and 2pm at the HWRC on Vauxhall Road, Canterbury.
The pop-up shop will feature pre-loved items including small items of furniture, home décor, and toys. This reuse initiative builds on previous successful pop-up events held in the last four years.
In addition to shopping for new-to-you items, residents can also donate unwanted items on the day, with a permanent reuse container in place for daily donations.

Vikki Sedgwick, Mid & East Kent Education and Communications Officer from FCC Environment said:
“These pop-up shops are a great way to engage the community in reuse and recycling. The initiative supports our wider joint environmental goals and helps local residents play an active role in reducing waste and extending the life of everyday items.”
Jamie Henderson, Kent County Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Coastal Regeneration and Public Health, said:
“Reuse is a simple way to reduce waste and help residents save money by giving them access to quality pre-loved items at affordable prices. These pop-up shops make it easier for people to make more sustainable choices while finding something useful for their home. I’d encourage residents to come along, see what’s on offer, and consider donating any items they no longer need so they can be enjoyed by someone else.”
