Sandeep Anand, Son of Art Director Anand Sai, Granted Bail in Fatal Hyderabad Hit-and-Run Case

HYDERABAD: Sandeep Anand, the son of prominent art director Anand Sai, has been granted bail by the Upparpally Court in connection with a tragic hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a 31-year-old man. The case, which has drawn significant public attention, continues to be under active investigation by local authorities.

The Incident

The accident occurred near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in the Khajaguda area of Hyderabad. According to police reports, 31-year-old Nanda Kishor Kumar Ray, also known as Nandulal, was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by a vehicle allegedly driven by Sandeep Anand.

Following the collision, the victim was left severely injured on the roadway. In a harrowing turn of events, a student named Zaid Shah Qadri stopped at the scene to assist the bleeding victim. While attempting to help, Qadri was struck by a second passing vehicle, resulting in serious injuries that necessitated immediate hospitalization. Tragically, Nanda Kishor Kumar Ray succumbed to his injuries.

Police Investigation and Arrest

The investigation into the incident led police to analyze extensive CCTV footage from the surrounding area. By tracing the vehicle involved in the initial collision, authorities were able to identify and apprehend Sandeep Anand on Tuesday.

Despite the serious nature of the allegations—which include leaving the scene of a fatal accident—the Upparpally Court has granted bail to the accused while the broader investigation remains ongoing.

Viral Footage and Public Scrutiny

The case sparked renewed controversy after a video surfaced on social media appearing to show Sandeep Anand smoking a substance that many users speculated to be marijuana. The viral footage has fueled intense public discourse regarding the circumstances of the accident; however, there is currently no official confirmation regarding the nature of the substance seen in the video.

In response to the public outcry, police officials have clarified that preliminary drug and alcohol tests conducted on Sandeep Anand immediately following his arrest returned negative results. Authorities have emphasized that they are treating the findings of the video and the accident as distinct matters, and investigations into both aspects of the case are continuing.

As the legal proceedings progress, the community remains focused on the status of Zaid Shah Qadri, who continues to recover from his injuries sustained during the rescue attempt.
